Immigration

Immigration isn't just moving to a new country. It's trying to build a better setup for your work and life, and it comes with real friction. How do you get through the hard parts without romanticizing it?

My Immigration Story

Four years ago, I stood at a crossroads, ready to take a leap into the unknown. I had decided to immigrate, but the COVID pandemic suddenly brought the world to a halt. Stuck in Iran, I had time to reflect, research, and carefully plan my next steps. My purpose was clear, I wanted to work better, earn more, and create a brighter future for myself and my family.

Choosing the right country was no easy task. I evaluated all possible options, considering Europe and the U.S., and weighed every scenario based on my goals. In the end, Turkey emerged as the best choice for me, not as a final destination, but as the fastest and easiest path to achieving my immediate objectives. Turkey offered proximity, opportunities, and a starting point for the life I envisioned.

When I arrived in Turkey, I was met with a host of challenges, from adapting to a new culture to establishing a stable life. But each obstacle taught me something, and over time I learned to handle the practical side of immigration. I started working as a freelancer on Upwork and kept building as a programmer. Those steps laid the foundation for my first startup and company in Lithuania, which eventually led to a Schengen visa.

That visa opened up Europe for me, letting me travel, work, and live in Germany, Spain, Croatia, and Finland. I wasn't just visiting. I lived in these places long enough to know what it actually felt like, which gave me a clearer picture of immigration than any guide could: the cultural differences and the professional side both.

Along the way, I worked with teams across the world, from the U.S. and Canada to Africa and Finland. That work widened my perspective and showed me, in concrete terms, how much immigration can open up.

Immigrating wasn't easy. Leaving my country and family behind was emotionally hard. But it was worth it. Each step moved me closer to what I was aiming for. It taught me to adapt, to plan carefully, and to keep going when things were uncertain.

That's why I built this space: to share what I've learned and help other people get through the immigration process with fewer surprises. Whether you're taking your first steps or already abroad and figuring out the next one, hopefully some of this is useful.

Adapting to Life Abroad

Living in a new country is exciting and hard at the same time. Between a new language and unfamiliar customs, it can feel like a lot. With some preparation and the right approach, most of it becomes manageable, and some of it turns out to be the best part.

Drawing on my time in Lithuania, Finland, and Croatia, this section is practical advice on settling in, building connections, and finding your footing in a new place. It also covers the emotional side of moving, which is the part most guides skip.

Choosing the Right Country to Immigrate To

Selecting the right country is one of the most critical steps in the immigration process. It's not just about the economy or job opportunities, it's also about the culture, lifestyle, and how well the country aligns with your goals and values. Having lived in various countries like Turkey, Germany, and Spain, I've experienced firsthand the importance of researching visa options, living costs, and the quality of life in your chosen destination.

This section covers the key factors to weigh when choosing where to immigrate, including government support for immigrants, community networks, and long-term residency or citizenship options. Understanding what each country actually offers is what lets you decide with your eyes open.

Building a Life That Works Abroad

Immigration is more than starting over. It's a chance to rebuild your situation: your career, your finances, the place you live. It won't fix everything, but for a lot of people it opens doors that were closed at home.

This section is about lining up a move with what you actually want long-term. From finding work and building a support network to keeping a balance between where you came from and where you are now, these are practical steps, not a fantasy of the perfect life abroad.
